An essential part of chainsaw maintenance, sharpening should be carried out little and often, giving longer chain life, quicker and safer working, and less wear on the saw itself. A good sharpening routine saves time and money and more importantly, makes cutting safer.
Indications, the chain needs sharpening:
- 1. If the saw is throwing saw dust, rather than chips of wood
- 2. The saw is cutting to the left or right, rather than straight
- 3. Cutting takes longer or requires more pressure
